Ashley & Elijah: From Houston High School Hallways to Esperanza's Cliffs
This Esperanza Auberge wedding started years before Los Cabos, with a familiar face in a Houston high school hallway. Ashley and Elijah knew of each other back then but moved in different circles. It wasn't until both returned to Houston after college that they reconnected, and what had once been a passing awareness became something far more deliberate.
Designing an Esperanza Auberge Wedding: The Role of Blue Poppy Events
The ceremony took place on Esperanza's oceanfront terrace beneath a floral arch filled with white blooms and soft blue hydrangeas. Ashley wore a floral appliqué gown that became one of the standout details of the day, paired with a sleek bun and clean, understated styling. Elijah, a professional baseball player, kept things classic in a black tuxedo. Every detail, from the ceremony through the reception, was planned by Blue Poppy Events, whose approach let the setting speak for itself.
As the sun disappeared behind the Sea of Cortez, the celebration shifted into a completely different atmosphere. Long dinner tables, candlelight, and ocean views set the scene for an evening that felt intimate from beginning to end. Guests gathered beneath the stars while heartfelt toasts, a packed dance floor, and a few late-night slices of cake carried the celebration well into the night.
Esperanza continues to be one of our favorite venues for a Los Cabos destination wedding. The ocean views, stone architecture, and golden afternoon light make it an incredible place to photograph. From the ceremony to sunset portraits and the reception under the stars, Ashley and Elijah's wedding is one we'll keep coming back to.
